Admission Information

Admission usually begins 30 minutes before the start of the event. Due to possible security checks at the entrance, we kindly ask you to arrive on time. Please check event details to determine when admission begins.

For security reasons, no bags or pieces of luggage larger than the DIN A4 format (20cm x 30cm) may be brought to ZEIT events. Bags measuring the DIN A4 size are permitted (although they may be subject to a manual security check).

Information about Photo, Film and Audio Recordings

We would like to inform you that events be documented by Zeitverlag Gerd Bucerius GmbH & Co KG, as the organizer, or by a third party commissioned or authorized by the company or a co-organizer, such as, in particular, photographers and videographers, with the aid of photo, film and audio recordings. It may be that event participants may also be recorded in audio and video recordings.

In compliance with our obligations to provide information pursuant to Art. 13 and 14 of GDPR, we draw attention to the following with regard to any processing of personal data that may take place in the process:

1. Responsible Party

The party responsible for the processing of data relating to the photo, video and audio recordings at ZEIT events is:

 2.  Purpose of Processing

The photo, film and audio recordings are taken, archived and published for documentation purposes and for the purpose of reporting on the event. Publication may take place in the following media:

  • in all of the ZEIT-Verlagsgruppe's newspapers and magazines,
  • on all websites of the ZEIT-Verlagsgruppe, in particular on  https://www.zeit.de/  and  verlag.zeit.de
  • on social media channels of the ZEIT-Verlagsgruppe (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube).

 3.  Recipients

Recipients of the photo, film and audio recordings are the employees of the organizer involved in the event and in the publication of the photos and video and audio recordings or those companies within ZEIT-Verlagsgruppe in whose media the photo, film and audio recordings are to be published as well as the service providers commissioned for the purpose of publication (e.g. printers, etc.). The recipients process the data solely for the purposes cited under Section 2.

In some instances, photo/film and audio recordings are uploaded or livestreamed on ZEIT-Verlagsgruppe's social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

The websites found at www.facebook.com  and  www.instagram.com  and the services provided on these pages are the offerings of Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. It cannot be excluded that Facebook stores and processes the uploaded data independently. We have no influence on the extent of the collection and further use of this data by Facebook. Privacy information from this third party can be found on the following Facebook website:  https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy .

It cannot be ruled out that Facebook may also forward the data to Facebook Ltd's U.S.-based parent company, Facebook Inc. Facebook Inc. has, however, submitted and certified to the Privacy Shield Agreement concluded between the European Union and the United States. In doing so, Facebook Inc. obligates itself to comply with the standards and regulations of European data protection law. The Twitter network is an offering of Twitter International Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, D02, AX07 Ireland. It cannot be excluded that Twitter stores and processes the uploaded data independently. We have no influence on the extent of the collection and further use of this data by Twitter. Privacy information from this third party can be found on the following Twitter website:  https://www.twitter.com/privacy .

It cannot be ruled out that Twitter may also forward the data to its U.S.-based parent company, Twitter Inc. Twitter has, however, submitted and certified to the Privacy Shield Agreement concluded between the European Union and the United States. In doing so, Twitter Inc. obligates itself to comply with the standards and regulations of European data protection law. The web site  www.youtube.com  and the services provided on it are offered by YouTube LLC, headquartered at 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA ("YouTube"). YouTube is represented by Google Inc., located at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). It cannot be ruled out that YouTube or Google will store and process the uploaded data independently. We have no influence on the extent of the collection and further use of this data by YouTube or Google. Google also operates its servers in the U.S. Therefore, it is possible the data may be processed on servers located outside the European Union. Google has, however, submitted and certified to the Privacy Shield Agreement concluded between the European Union and the United States. In doing so, Google obligates itself to comply with the standards and regulations of European data protection law.  4. Storage Period

Storage of photo, film and audio recordings begins as soon as they are made and shall end when the purposes specified in Section 2 cease to apply, if not before.

However, if processing is carried out on the basis of a consent given, the data shall be deleted immediately upon revocation of the consent given, unless there is another legal basis for the processing.

 5.  Legal Basis

Data processing is based on the legitimate interest in audio and video documentation of the event and reporting about it. The lawful basis for processing is Article 6, Para. 1, Sent. 1, Point f of GDPR.

 6.  Affected Parties' Rights

Regarding the personal data concerning you, you have the right:

  • to request information in accordance with Art. 15 of GDPR and Para. 34 of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) on whether and, if so, to what extent we process personal data relating to your person or not;
  • to immediately request the correction or completion of any incorrect personal data concerning you, in accordance with Art. 16 of GDPR;
  • to request the erasure of your personal data in accordance with Art. 17 of GDPR and Para. 35 of BDSG;
  • to demand the restriction of the processing of your data in accordance with Art. 18 of GDPR;
  • to receive your personal data which you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to request transmission to another controller in accordance with Art. 20 of GDPR;
  • to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority pursuant to Art. 77 of GDPR if you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed upon in any way, and;
  • pursuant to Art. 21 of GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for reasons arising from your particular situation, provided that such objection is based on Art. 6, Para. 1, Sent. 1, Point f of GDPR.

*Addendum (to section 5) for event participants under 16 years of age:
Pursuant to Art. 6, Para. 1, Sent. 1, Point a, Article 7 and Art. 8, Para. 1 of GDPR, if children under the age of 16 are affected by the processing, data processing will only take place with the consent of the child and their legal guardian(s). Once consent has been given, it can be revoked at any time in accordance with Art. 7, Para. 3 of GDPR without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent prior to revocation. Withdrawal of consent can be submitted in writing or by e-mail to the contact mentioned under Section 1.
